常滑焼急須は炻器(せっき)と呼ばれ、陶器と磁器の中間的な性質を持つ焼き物です。
炻器で作られた急須の特徴は、吸水性はほとんどありませんがお茶の雑味をほどよく吸着して、お茶のまろやかさを際立たせるため美味しくいただけることです。
